After a transformer tank is welded, the tank body undergoes sand blasting (or shot blasting). This process uses high-speed abrasive particles to strip away oxide scale, rust, and oil from the welds and steel plate surfaces, leaving the surface clean and rough. Its purpose is to prepare for the next step – coating. Only when the surface is clean and has a certain roughness can the paint adhere firmly, ensuring the tank’s corrosion protection. C5-H, C5-VH under ISO 12944 are the standard ratings commonly found in BODA’s regular product range.
